This kit removes the bulky spool holder handing off the side of the Anycubic Kobra Plus and relocates it opposite the LCD screen. I have my printer on a sliding tray under my workbench, so I couldn't use the top-mounted spool holders. An adaptor bracket relocates the factory filament sensor give more bending radius to the filament as it's fed under the X-axis motor.
Printing Notes
- All parts are designed to be printed without supports.
- All of the spool holder parts can be printed at 0.3mm or more, 20% infill.
- The relocation bracket should be printed at 0.2mm or less, in order for the Bowden tube bores to fit properly.
Assembly
- You will need qty three: M3 x 3 x 5mm heat set inserts for the spool bar and for the relocation bracket.
- You will need qty three: M3 screws in various lengths for assembling the spool bar and for holding the filament sensor.
- The spool holder simply snaps into the left side rail.
- The spool bar and cap clamp through the hold in the spool holder. These parts are designed to be replaceable for remixing your own spool bars for different spool types.
Filament sensor relocation:
- Remove the two existing screws holding the filament sensor.
- Feed the short Bowden tube normally in between the sensor and extruder into the bracket. It will need to be trimmed in a later step.
- Install the relocation bracket in place of the sensor using the factory screws just removed. You can reuse the small alignment bracket underneath the sensor as well, though not required.
- Using some flush cutters or a razor blade, trim the Bowden tube flush with the inside of the relocation bracket.
- Install the filament sensor sideways onto the relocation bracket using two M3 screws.
You can stop here and just feed the filament directly through the eyelets in the relocation bracket, but it's recommended to install a short length of auxiliary Bowden tube between the spool and the filament sensor. The eyelets are sized to hold a Bowden tube, I just didn't have any extra on hand initially. In my testing, I had no issues simply feeding the filament directly.
