I was in need for a cable holder for USB cables and alike which can be mounted to the side of a desk, without the need for fixing it with wood-screws

After some great inspirations from e.g. Schrittmotor, I started creating my own design fitting my 28mm thick desk, separate parts for nice and fast prints and a ball joint screw tip for good friction against the surface

I printed all parts in PLA, 0,2mm layer height and 15% infill

Support is only needed for the “cable_holder” middle parts to get some sharp edges to fit the pylon in

For assembly

  1. try if the screw fits the bottom part, you might need to slightly adjust the scale, depending on the accuracy of your printer
  2. put the bottom in the pylon (a vise helps to get the pieces in evenly)
  3. put in the M3x12 hex socket screw and the nut (slightly longer is okay, as long it doesn't interfere with the screw)
  4. slide the pylon in the cable_holder
  5. put in the printed screw in the bottom and place the screw_cap on top after the screw is in place

The screw head fits a 13mm wrench if you want to create some torgue and/or a in a tight spot to get your hand to

“screw.stl” is for a desk thickness of about 28mm

“screw_long.stl” goes for desks up to 8mm thickness
