Thanks, so far happy with the results on my i3 Mega S! Runs quieter with the 40x40 Noctua cooling the hotend, than the tiny E3D fan. I installed a Sunon Maglev fan on the back and the part cooler is really blowing hard (in a good way). Also the whole assembly seems a bit stiffer than original carriage on my build which I find nice.
The probe offset on my build: M851 X-26 Y-3 (Knutwurst's Marlin build)
Printed it in regular Prusament PETG. 3 walls, 25% gyroid infill. No supports except for the big holes on the front part (see screenshot). I used some* brass inserts from a set I had at home; M3 for the main case, M2 for the BLTouch probe mount. I also put in an M4 insert in the back instead of a nut because my screws were a bit too short (that's laziness on my part)
The front fan cover did not fit all the way, I guess my fan is too thick. Hence I skipped installing the brass inserts or cover altogether after doing a test fit. I plan to design a small mesh cover to keep the dust out (and keep my fingers outta there for the time being)
The connector "hub" PCB fit pretty tight initially but after pulling it out a couple of times its kind of loose in there so I might drop some hot glue in there to keep it in place. I don't fault the model, this is a skill issue on my side 🤣. My cable management is a work in progress anyway, some of the wires are way too long and I need to crimp new connectors. Also my BLTouch cable is crudely soldered to the PCB instead of using a nice connector so that makes it 1000x more difficult 😂
My feedback for V3 😀
- take it from "not difficult" to "super ez" by adding assembly instructions or a few more pictures (for example, where do the cables/brass inserts go etc.)
- would be great to add some clips, channels, guides or places to put zip ties around in strategic points to make cable management easier
Thanks again for nice work!
* unfortunately I have no precise measurements for the brass inserts because I dropped the box and they all got mixed up so i had to do it visually anyway
