I really like the products made by PeakDesing. they are extremely well designed. Every detail is the result of a precise idea/functionality. the right material and manufacturing technique is chosen. The result is a product that is functional, does not get on you way and is pleasurable to use.
I was curious to see what it would take to make a similar piece to the clip they produce to quickly connect cameras to leashes using 3d printing.
I've managed to create this piece that relies on the plastic deformation to achieve the satisfying snapping mechanism.
This is the result of my second iteration
I've printed the pieces with a .3 mm layer height and .6 mm nozzle.
I've not used supports but I've printed the model withe the opening on the bottom. This is necessary to get the 8 shaped opening printed accurately.
