This is a Jar Ring for a wide mouth mason jar. It's a remix of AlexEnglish's Canning Jar Lid (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19105). I uploaded the Wide Mouth version of his Lid to TinkerCad, and punched a 73mm hole through the center of the lid.  (Moved from Thingiverse for a variety of issues on that site.)

This ring fits the default Mason Jar Sprouting Insert by schlem (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:97431). The outside dimension of the ridge on those inserts is about 72mm, thus the hole size indicated above.

The issue for me is: Metal mason jar bands rust! I figured I'd just be able to find some plastic mason jar bands, but they just don't seem to be out there. The tops the vendors include with the mason jar sprouting kits tend to stick on the jars. So, hey, that's why we're into 3D printing, right?

These won't work for canning, of course, and don't try it! They are intended for holding whichever kind of insert you want to hold on to the jar, where a metal band would be a problem, such as sprouting seeds.

There is a problem I had with the ring not fitting the mesh inserts -- The ABS I used shrinks a bit. If you can, print the lid at 102% to 105% of its original size, to avoid a jar lid that is too tight on the jar and/or does not fit the mesh inserts.

This might work better in a more flexible filament. PETG is not really necessary because it is not in contact with the food, but it might have the correct physical properties nevertheless. Comment on this if you come up with something better, let me know.
