This is a remix of Jazzychad's passive drag feeder design updated to work with the LumenPnP  V3. V3 changed the nozzle's z-height which makes it no longer able to reach the previous model's tape.

This remix uses a spare 2020 aluminum extrusion to lift the feeder bodies closer to the nozzle, which has the added benefit of making the feeder smaller, requiring less filament and time to print. You'll need to print at least two of the rail-stack to attach the 2020 extrusion to your machine's front rail (alternatively, you can use these end brackets).

Materials required:

  • 1x 2020 extrusion to hold the feeders. It should be shorter than the Lumen's front rail, 100-200mm is a good size.
  • 2x M3x14mm BHCS or SHCS bolts for each feeder
  • 2x M3 hex nuts for each feeder
  • 2x M5 T-nuts for each feeder
  • 2x M5x10 BHCS or SHCS bolts for each feeder
  • 10x M3x10 BHCS or SHCS bolts for the rail-stack
  • 5x M3 T-nuts for the rail-stack

Print guidelines:

  • 0.2mm or 0.3mm layer height
  • 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzle
  • At least 20% infill
  • PLA or PETG

For the tape-riser, you should print with the smallest layer height available for your printer.

Tips:

  • M3x14mm bolts can sometimes be hard to find, you can grind down longer bolts to get an exact fit.
  • If you use an M3 bolt with a low profile head you can pack the feeders more closely together.
  • If you're using loose cut tape, you can use this tape hook to keep things tidy.
