I was never a fan of the microphone on my A50 headset, but I like everything else about it. It's been my daily headset for 6 years now. Recently the microphone started behaving really weird, clipping my voice out unless I was in a silent room with no background noise. Seemed like a good chance to try out the wireless ModMic.
I wasn't able to get the adhesive magnetic adapter to stick to the headset reliably, and I wanted a more mechanical connection. I was able to throw this together quickly and so far it works great. There is a little bit of wiggle room allowing the adapter to rotate slightly. I might be able to fix it with a small wedge.
Instructions:
Printed laying down flat at .1mm with PETG. I didn't use any supports but you might want to add some under the circular cutout for the magnet.
I removed one of the magnets from the official adapter and place it into the printed adapter. I then attached the microphone to pull the magnet into place. Then press the disc down behind the magnet to prevent it from falling out.
Slide the adapter onto the A50's existing microphone. Its a little tight at first but it'll go.
