Self-Watering-Planter

This self watering planter is operating an open water reservoir with cotton strings hang into it so the soil gets just the right amount of wetness. 

At the same time the self watering feature is completely optional! The reservoir can also act as dump for drainage water which makes overwatering almost impossible. 

Im case you want to use the self watering feature you'd just need to to clear a couple (3 seems to be sufficient) of the drainage holes and thread some cotton strings (or other soakables like a piece of cloth) through the stilts to the bottom reservoir. Since the gaps between the stilts are not super big you might want to print the design matching watering can as an addition to your setup. 

If you have a large enough printer it should not even be a problem to print it in 200% scale.
