Update: Added versions of the parts suitable for a 5mm armature wire internal “spine”, since I noticed that my original version started getting loose & floppy over time. The updated base mount is simplified to just a stud; for my clamp it works just fine without the split wedge.
------------------
I had a 130mm magnifying lens lying around from another, failed project, and decided I could use a flex arm for it - I already have a 90mm one on a goose neck, but it's a little small.
So I found a Loc-Line segment on Thingiverse, and an old table clamp from an architect's lamp, and tinkered this flexible arm together. The lens is acrylic, so it's light enough that the arm has no trouble holding it, at least at a length of 11 segments + end mounts which I have on mine. If you have a lens of a different size it should be fairly uncomplicated to modify the frame. Update: If your lens is heavier I recommend adding a 5mm armature wire “spine”.
The screws are EU; an M4x30mm for the clamp end (which screws down through the “wedge” part and pulls it up, spreading the peg and holding it in the clamp hole) and an M5x16mm for the lens end.
Note: Parts are huge - I prefer to scale to 0.1% in the slicer. Print at 100% infill for strength.
(sidebar, here's the Spiderman bust, which I'm in the process of painting in the pictures)
The author remixed this model.
The original model is simply a single ¾" LocLine segment - I used this as a base for some special segments to create this project.
