This version of the Treasure Planet map was crafted for my son's Halloween party back in 2020 Halloween party. He and his girlfriend dressed up as characters from Disney's Treasure Planet. Locked inside the orb was a special gift.
The original orb was cut in half, hollowed out, and crafted in such a way as to lock it back together - unlocked only by pressing one of the secret circles (see pictures for post-printing assembly clues).
An additional insert was added to the left half to 1) create a latch to hold the two halves together and 2) provide a bench for presenting presents. A second version of the insert without the ring bench is included.
Unexpected Bonus: As seen in the images, when printed with a white filament, the orb glows nicely when a small light is inserted inside.
Assembly Choice: The left and right halves are designed to reassemble without using the center ring. This is accomplished by providing a very thin (1 mm) overlap of the small circles. However, these are very weak and often break off. To make the components stronger, I cut out the circles along the center with a Dremmel for both the left and right halves so that they reassemble around the center ring (again, see pictures for examples).
The author remixed this model.
