Structure Synth is an amazing opensource program which makes creating recursive 3d shapes very easy. It does not, unfortunately, have a big selection of shapes. Essentially just spheres & rectangles. It also does not have subtraction or intersection options.
This is a recursive tree which would have required a somewhat more complex program in OpenSCAD.

I used Cura 3.6 & selected supports only touching base plate. The obj need to be scaled to at least 10cm otherwise the terminal branches are too small & break off with the supports.
