For Halloween 2022 my family decided to do costumes from Disney & Pixar's Brave.

I was King Fergus.

Due to some time constraints we opted to 3D print several parts of our costumes.

Elinor's Crown and Fergus' helmet are both designs by Elfinn3: https://www.thingiverse.com/elfinn3/designs

The belt buckle & kilt pin hadn't been created as far as I was aware. The have a simple enough shape so I had a go at it with Tinkercad.

For both of these I took some inspiration from this creation by Lucky Nail Blacksmith: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/belt-buckle-brooch-king-fergus-style-handforged--399764904402900687/

Belt Buckle:

My wife determined that we would need about an 8 inch wide belt. This was made out of EVA foam. It was textured using aluminum foil pressed into the foam and heated with a heat gun. The buckle is a fairly simple design that looks very symmetric. It has a prong that you can insert after the print is complete. We ended up not using it, and just used the frame itself. My wife did a great job painting it to give it the proper forged look.

Kilt Pin:

I scaled the Kilt Pin to match the sizing of the belt buckle.

Version 1.0 is designed with movable prong. the frame is split to allow for assembly. I didn't end up printing this version. My wife indicated that a movable prong was not needed.

Version 2.0 is a single piece with the prong and frame combined. Once again my wife did the painting and it looks great.

Printing: I used eSun Black PLA+ to print both of these. Infill was 20%, layer height 0.1mm, & 0.4mm nozzle
