UFS-032 Black Pipe Diameter NPT Gage, External Measurement

This is my original design. It is similar to a circle template. The circles match the outside diameter of galvanized or black pipe made to imperial NPT standard gage.

This was a tool of necessity. I was insulating pipes under my house. At first I measured a couple with calipers and used that to decided what size of insulation to buy. Then as I got further into the job, I found pipes that looked like others that I had measured were actually a different size. I needed a quick way to check every section of pipe.

Since I couldn't check the thread or inside dimension because this was already assembled and installed. I had no access to the threads or insides. I created a gage to measure the outside. I added a lot of extra sizes to my gage.

It was wonderful. I could check the pipe first and not waste time or material trying to install insulation that wouldn't fit.

When using, the circle should be an almost exact fit. You can take it to Home Depot, Lowes, or other hardware store to test your gage on their pipes and verify it printed ok before using.

I added a Rev B version with raised letters. You can do a filament change and have a contrasting color for the lettering.
