Of course there are several other Mag-Shifter Mods out there, but one of the main issues i had with them: They all relied on glueing magnets to the plastic. Which i think is neither nice to look at, nor very long term stable. Since these parts are slapping onto each other several hundred times during, even semi short, racing sessions.
That's why i decided to design a version with enclosed magnets.
After some testing on my own, here is a first version - a public beta, if you'd like to say.
So again, if you have anything that's not working quite right, please let me know in the comment section! Thanks a lot.
The mod "should" fit all Formula Wheels from Fanatec, as far as i could figure from pictures, but i designed it using a Formula V2. Also it looks like it should fit all "Universal Hub" Shifters, but again, feedback is required.
Assembly on the Wheel
BE CAREFULL: DO NOT overtighten the tiny screews OR misalign them with your wheels' holes You might damage the threads on your Wheel permanently!
ToDo List
2021-03-31 Both Parts V5:
TLDR: Easier for me to do future changes; more rigidity, faster printing and smaller footprint for you.
Completely reworked the design from scratch - mainly to improve future changes via variables in Fusion.
At the same time, improving alignments and dependecies by doing a master sketch and components.
BUT to have some benefit for the user:
- Shaved of as much footprint as i could find
- optimized for 0,1 and 0,15mm layers
- adjusted internal layouts for a cleaner overall wallstrength of 2-2.25mm (5 walls @ 0,4/0,45mm linewidth)
- 1,6 to 2mm top/bottom shell recommended
- 10x4 cylindical magnets recommended
- Oh… and i added a thicker Version, where you can emboss your Logo or grid number or whatever, up to 0,6mm deep
2021-01-30 PaddleMod V4:
After some rare complaints of breaking PaddleMods i'm following Kiss81s remix. After a short chat, this is "reincorporating" his idea to make a more reinforced PaddleMod, keeping my original light weight approach somewhat intact.
Fresh from development, so to speak, no long term experience yet.
