THIS WON'T WORK AS A STANDALONE PART

*(More geometry is required -- this provides a "baseline" for something else to utilize a GoPro mount and isintended* for remixing!!!)**

Dead simple GoPro mount I reverse-engineered in OpenSCAD, using both the 3-flap version (which includes the nut hole) and the 2-flap version (no nut hole) for either side of a mount. I've used this for a few years on several one-off designs and finally took the time to isolate the mount itself.

The height is also adjustable based on the Extra_Mount_Depth parameter in the OpenSCAD file if necessary, but I saw this measurement used on several GoPro-branded mounts so it's safe to assume it's a "standard" measurement.

Prints in multiple orientations as STL's show. Most printers can handle this without any supports required.

For an example of what is possible with this design, please see my [ PiCam GoPro Mount ], which remixes this design for the Raspberry Pi camera module in a rather simple and straightforward way. It is also possible to remix the resulting STL onto a different design if that suits your fancy, and I have provided four rendered STL's for that exact reason.

PLEASE NOTE: If using the 3-flap version, be careful of nut hole orientation. It prints flawlessly if two corners are aligned in the Z axis regardless of the printer, though bridging can have trouble. If you look at the thumbnails for each 3 flap version, you can see that the nut hole doesn't change orientation, the flap does -- this is what I'm describing and is intentional for best print quality. Remember, you'll be torquing against this nut, it is critical that it is secured correctly!

Recommendations

  • Avoid supports if possible, otherwise the slicers tend to get lazy and will rely on the support material for a nice round circle rather than the sheer fact that small circles like this are incredibly easy to print.
  • Remix it! BSD license, use it anywhere and everywhere you see fit, commercial, personal, public, private, whatever wherever it's all fair game.
