The flashing LED is powered by a CR2032 disc battery.  The battery is retained with a disc that press-fits into the battery cavity.  The LED flashes multiple colors.

There are two designs:  One with a pin on the back for wearing and one without a pin for placement on a tree.  The pin design is provided separately.  There is a  hole on the top of the tree for a Christmas tree ornament wire.

The LEDs come with wires that are insulated to near the ends.  The wires are a bit too long for this application.  Cut off the ends so that there is a loop at the end over each side of the battery when installed.  Use sandpaper to remove the insulation from the wire ends that go on the top and bottom of the battery.  You can also remove the insulation by scraping with a sharp knife. The gold insulated wire goes to the + side of the battery.  There is a separate vertical channel for each wire in the tree.

A press-fit disc goes on top of the installed battery to put pressure on the wires and retain the battery in place.

To turn off the light:  remove the disc, pull the top wire up, and replace the disc.  This is shown in the last photo
