In the dark dread depths the Bone Urchin plucks drifting threads of despair ...
The single STL is just 1 part of 13. The zip file has pre-supported Lychee files for all 13 parts - if you want all the STLs you can export them from Lychee. The print is complete but it's still a work in progress - the inner hub sections need a rework for printing without breakages, and some of the outer sections have "hacked-in" index lettering.
Also at some point I need to make some instructions :) for now just realise that the segment indexes are counted in an anticlockwise direction. So when you're looking at the outside of a segment, the lower number segment is on the left and higher number on the right - the numbers are the wrong way around when you're looking at them.
Of course to make the animation work you'll need a strobe source, and I happen to make 3D Zoetrope kits exactly like the one in the video - see 4-mation.co.uk as well as others with integrated motors in machined Walnut or Baltic Birch Ply.
My machines have enough strobe brightness to work in moderate ambient light (don't need a dark room) and also as per the video you can control the strobe brightness and colour from the free app, available on iOS and Android.
