Jaquar jumping through Mercedes hood ornament. (Prank)

As a practical joke I printed a Jaquar hood ornament in real scale and had it jump through a Mercedes hood ornament.

Recently a colleague at work bought a second hand Mercedes. He proudly showed it to us. The next day the hood ornament (star) was already broken! It turned out that he had fiddled with it before breaking off on the thin mounting ring. It didn't take 2 days before he already had a new one on....

Then I got the idea to do something with it as a practical joke :-)

I found the model (without base) of the Jaguar:

File: Jaguar_Pure.stl from Droid13

The model of the star (actual size!!):

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3663741 Mercedes Star

File: Teil_2.STL from Grempelp

Although I didn't have a Mercedes in front of the door to test, I estimated roughly where and at what angle the model would have to come for a good rendering and without hitting the hood.

I placed the star under the right angle approximately in the middle, bisected the model of the Jaguar and added the star as negative volume so that it would center on it and hang well. Then added the 2 holes for pins and quickly drew a pin. I gave the diameter of the holes and pins a little slack so that the whole would clamp with a light fit. That way there would be no permanent damage during assembly and disassembly, no glue was needed.

Put it on when he was working. When he returned to his car, his response was priceless. He didn't know how fast to get the Jaguar off again! We all had a hearty laugh about it. However, many colleagues were of the opinion that it would be nicer to leave it in place.....

Printed with DLP for fine details and almost no residu of support.

Printed in Translucent Green because I had that Resin still in the tank.

Printing time on my Anycubic Photon Mono SE was about 2h24m and took 21ml of Resin.

If you want to hide the mounting pins, use a non-translucent resin.
