My Parasol hand crank broke. I opened it up and found that the metal piece had pretty much shattered.
So, I grabbed my calipers and designed a replacement. Saved me around ~300€ from buying another expensive parasol!
PLA is not strong enough for this application. I eventually tried ABS and it's been holding up just fine.
The model is up on Onshape if you need to make modifications.
It's important to print on its side (see screenshot) to make the "pin" as strong as possible. Unfortunately this means supports are needed.
