Adds a bite point adjuster option to the levers of Magura MT7 brake systems. This allows adjustment of the amount of lever throw before the pads bite on the disc. Magura offers a BAT kit to try and do this but it doesn't really work and you get next to no adjustment.
With this system it effectively preloads the lever and brake cylinder slightly so that when you squeeze the lever there is a lot less free-play in the system. This allows you to do things like keeping your levers feeling the same as the pads wear, making the front and rear brakes feel exactly the same when you pull the levers and also lets you have the same feeling bite point while having the lever set at different reach distances. On the stock setup if you had the levers set close to the bar you couldn't get the full power out of the brakes before the levers hit the bar. With this add on you can in most cases.
The system is designed to attach to the levers without having to remove or modify any parts of the existing brake system and is securely clamped to the bar for stability. It can easily be removed and the brake system returned to stock if required.
This was designed to fit the standard 1 finger levers that come stock on the MT7's. It may fit other Magura levers but no guarantee as I don't have any others to try.
I printed it out of PETG for all parts but you could use PLA or ABS if preferred. The bar clamp is probably still best out of PETG as its a bit more flexible than PLA which allows it to grip the handlebar better.
Print in the orientation in the pictures for best results. You will need some support under the hexagon part where the rubber brake hose boot pushes on to. There isn't really any places in this model for infill so print solid. A fully sliced file is included along with the just the parts themselves for you to slice on your own. Note you will need a left and right to do both brakes, the only part that differs from left to right is the main adjuster body. A mirrored part is included in the full print file and the gcode file. Only the left hand brake main body file is included as a standalone part. You will have to mirror it yourself if you want to slice and print yourself.
To adjust the bite point of your levers you need to use a combination of the existing reach adjustment knob and the new bite point adjust screw. Fore example, you want to bring the levers closer to the bar but also have a sharp bite point so that the lever doesn't come all the way to the bar. Pull the lever in towards the bar to take pressure off the bite point adjuster then wind the adjuster screw clockwise inwards which will push the cam outwards. This stops the lever retracting too far away from the bar. Next release the lever and use the existing reach knob to adjust where the bite point is. Careful not to go to far as the brakes will remain on all the time and won't disengage. With a combination of the bite point adjuster and reach adjuster you should hopefully be able to find a point which has your ideal lever reach distance and bite point.
I am working on a version of this that will fit on the MT5 brakes. This version mostly fits it's just the lever shape is quite different so will require modification.
