Meet #3DTakoTuesday, a cute, stackable octopus with a variety of expressive eye options to fit your mood. "Tako" (たこ) is Japanese for octopus. I designed this to improve/practice my Fusion 360 skills. Feel free to drop me a tip if you like my designs or just want to support my learning. THANK YOU and enjoy! I am looking forward to seeing your makes!

The main octopus parts are designed to be printed without supports and do not require a multi color/filament printer. Some of the eyes will make use of the filament change technique, where the print is paused at a certain layer height, so that the filament can be swapped before resuming. This can be done with:

  • PrusaSlicer using color change
  • Cura using: Extensions > Post processing > Modify G-code > Add a script > filament change
  • Prusa's ColorPrint webapp ("G-code is supported from Slic3r, Cura, KISSlicer and Simplify3D.")

Accessories

The customization doesn't stop at the eyes! Check out these accessories/remixes:

Main Parts

3dtakotuesday.body.0.*mm_clearance.mm.stl

This is the main octopus body. The clearance determines the additional space for the holes for the eyes and lips. The amount of clearance depends on your printer's calibration/accuracy (too small of a clearance value might not allow the lips/eyes to fit into the body, while too large of a clearance value will make the lips/eyes fit too loosely).

3dtakotuesday.bottom.mm.stl

This is the bottom/underside of the octopus's tentacles.

3dtakotuesday.lips.mm.stl

This is the octopus's lips part. The file's orientation should not require a brim, but feel free to use one if you encounter bed adhesion issues.

3dtakotuesday.top.mm.stl

This is the top of the octopus's head.
