Solder Fume Extractor Fan

A solder fume extractor fan because breathing that stuff is really not a good idea.

I always dig it when someone makes one of these. Thanks for sharing!

Printer: Raise3D PRO 3 plus
Filament: "ReForm - rPET orange" from FormFutura.

All prints came out good without any supports. all parts fit nicely and all electronics installed easily.

On first attempt to lock the pivot angle, the nut immediately snapped the entire threaded end off the shaft.
So in the end I modified the foot and added a 10mm stainless pin with threaded ends.

@Theaumoix_534449 Good idea for the mod. I haven't had mine break so far, but that would be far more robust.

The inevitable happened, only after using it for two days 🙁

@collab That's a bummer. I've been using mine for a couple years now and haven't experience this. I do believe I used the Gyroid infill on mine though.

printed with polyterra banana pla; uses a sunon fan and 16mm power switch. m3 nuts didn’t fit on the inside even though there’s a cutout for them. (edited)

@collab That looks awesome. It also looks like you printed some sort of fan intake too.

@ExtraFox thanks! Yea these fan covers are awesome, I use them for all my 80mm fans. Get it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3635469

a real metal bolt for the leg would be amazing. not sure if it's financially an improvement, but it would drastically reduce print time.

@collab I'll consider that. Fastener-wise, finding one long enough, that has a nice finish might be a challenge though.

something between m3 and m5? (edited)

Sturdy, functional, and great looking. Initially the screw was a bit tight, but by turning it a full 360, then backing it off a quarter turn before tightening it again, a bit like tapping a screw hole, I was able to get it to feel just about perfect.

Sehr gut. Ich drucke noch aber was ich bis jetzt sehe, sieht gut.

I printed this and it came out great but used a Noctua fan instead. It does not have enough airflow so I will be purchasing a higher CFM fan soon.

Really glad to hear it worked for you Blake, thanks for the feedback. The Mechtronics fan I used is pretty noisy, but the CFM is decent.

@ExtraFox I bought a Mechtronics fan from Digikey but I picked the one with the highest CFM in the 80mm x 25mm size. It will probably be even noisier. I'm not to worried because I do not typically solder for long periods of time. Getting the fumes away from my face is the main priority. I also printed two Omnivise clones from thingiverse that should work out really well.
