This is a simple holder for the stock Millright Mega V touchplate, as well as a magnetic replacement for the probe alligator clip.

I've added an updated version that uses a wider holder for the plate to accommodate a (non-stainless) steel m5 bolt instead of the thin magnet. For the probe, I'm now using a magnet with a countersunk hole, a flathead m3 screw, a ring connector and an acorn nut.

The original holder has a small, thin magnet to hold the probe, but you can skip that and stick it anywhere.

Print instructions (updated model)

Feed m5 bolt into hole. Mount holder to table

Print instructions (original model)

Uses one 8mm x 3mm magnet for the probe, and one (optional) 8 x 0.8mm magnet to stick the probe to the side of the holder.

Solder wire to 8x3 magnet. Best to do this with the magnet attached to a stronger magnetic source so that it does not lose its magnetism when heated with the soldering iron.

Feed wire through holder through the front and press soldered magnet in place. Feed wire through strain relief and CA glue the back onto the probe.

Updates

2024-08-16Added “Bolted” version, that uses an m5 bolt in place of the thin magnet to hold the probe
