I picked up this compact magnetic stirrer on amazon. By no means am I advocating this specific model for anything other than being inexpensive and small.  I noticed power was a barrel plug that used 5v 1a for power.  This is what USB offers by default.  Decided to mod this to accept a usb-c cable for power, and took a bit more time to add spots to store the stirrers when not in use.

What is needed (amazon links offer rev share to me, I appreciate your support):

Nice to have, multimeter.  Don't assume wire colors when you open them up. Person assembling it could have had an off day and mixed them up.

What to do:

  1. Take apart unit.  Screws are under foam feet.
  2. Cut out barrel plug, leaving as much wire connect to the stirrer as possible.
  3. Solder power to usb breakout “vbus” and ground to “gnd”
  4. Bold the two outer bolts to join the 2 3d printed parts together.
  5. Position the usbc port, I chose facing the board down.
  6. Bolt the usbc port to the 3d printed part.
  7. Re-assemble unit.

Modeled with OnShape, edit it here.
