Update : I made a reinforced version, which is much more durable and strong. I advise you to use it instead of the standard version. There is no need for supports! ^w^

On my Quickie Neon wheelchair, I've ended up losing my 2 brakes, because the nyloc nuts become loose with time and with the vibrations.

I designed a 3D printable replacement part that does not require a nut and that is as solid and as efficient as the basic part.

As this part is screwed on (almost) all its length, it has way less much risk than the original to unscrew itself and fall.

This part fits all Quickie wheelchairs that have the standard brakes.

I have also provided an .stl file without the thread if you prefer

Printing instructions:

I advise you to print it with the following parameters:

  • PETG (or anything stronger than PLA)
  • (at least)3 perimeters
  • (at least) 15% of gyroid filling
  • print the top of the piece with a 100% filling
  • a layer height of 0.1mm to have a good printed thread for the screw

I provided the PrusaSlicer project file (the .3mf) with everything properly configured.

Installation procedure:

  1. unscrew the M6 screw until it is aligned with the lever arm
  2. insert your new part in the lever arm like with the original part
  3. hold the new part with a pliers to avoid breaking the portion that fits on the lever arm
  4. screw the M6 screw to the end, you will have to force it at the end because the printed thread stops to maintain the screw well
  5. you can add a nyloc nut if you want :")

As all my models, it is available as pay what you want.

So if it helps you, please consider giving me a tip or saying thank you in the comments ^w^
