After I installed a BL touch I realized that I could use the z end stop switch as a filament runout sensor. It was basically a free upgrade and it's nice to not have to worry about running out of filament when you're getting to the end of your roll.
- Print with the holes parallel to the print bed, the slot facing upward, and with supports (I use tree supports)
- It should easily slide into place on the bracket on the left. It may be worth putting a few dabs of glue if things are sliding around but on my printer, everything fits well and is held securely in place.
- Look up your board's pinout diagram. Wiring should be very straightforward.
- In my photo, I just changed the extruder to a BMG extruder so I will have to make an adjustment to line up the sensor with the new extruder position but it shouldn't be difficult to do.
I will include the STL file and a STEP file if anyone wants to make any adjustments of their own.
