I was looking for a larger piece of furniture to throw some 3D Printers on and have plenty of storage. Many "lacked" the space I wanted, or were way out of budget. I'd previously built a Lack enclosure, and was extremely happy with the structure once fully braced. It finally clicked, I could go wide with essentially the same idea!
Originally I design this to use all included legs that come with the Lack tables. The thick double leg columns in the middle was something I could not live with. After many iterations, I finally came to the conclusion that this design could support the weight distributed directly where the tabletops would meet with a single leg.
I've had mine built now for over a year, and have absolutely no concern about integrity. This thing is solid! I built mine with sheet metal screws because Lack tables are hollow. This provided a stronger grip in comparison to a wood screw. I may have went overboard adding the optional bracing under the tables, but better safe than sorry! Oh yeah, and did I mention, this thing eats 156 screws… This design can be infinitely wide depending on the space you're trying to fill!
