Ever since I started using French Cleats, i have LOVED these hooks-I've printed dozens of them for me and family/friends. I just have french cleats that are simple-1x6 board cut down the middle at a 45 degree angle to get two even cleats about 2.75 inches tall.. The only downside has been that anytime you pick up whatever is hanging from them, they often want to come with said object! So I'm really excited to share this simple addition that has locked mine down tight.

This is a bit of a work in progress and some of you guys with way better modeling skills or understanding of the direction of forces that's coming in to play to keep it clamped down could probably do ten times better. And that's a challenge! Please make an even better version of this simple compliment to these awesome hooks and share it with me so i can try out!

I was inspired by these great other french cleat hooks and locking mechanisms to make your french cleat wall even more secure: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4576866 https://www.printables.com/model/168930-bottom-flush-mount-french-cleat-lock https://www.printables.com/model/161421-swiveling-french-cleat-lock

Also including in files the medium size remix from this maker, which is the typical size of these hooks i print for myself: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4826359

UPDATE 10-9-2022  - French cleat with screw to lock - Since all my cleats were slightly different in width due to my inability to measure correctly, i wanted a way for these to lock but have some play. The best way i found was to include a small hole where i can add either a small m3 screw or a small wood screw to lock into place. It doesn't need a lot of tightening, just enough to keep the hook from lifting off the cleat with whatever is hanging on it.

*screw not included*    : )

UPDATE 10-1-2023 - I printed the originals in PLA and they have definitely not held up their tension over the last year. Which is to be expected from PLA. I'd suggest trying a different filament or utilizing the screw versions more often.
