Why THIS model?
I was finding majority of the filament guides would only guide well when there was NO tension on the filament. Although I don't have a lot of tension I was finding majority of them being quite loud the guide would vibrate along the filament being dragged past it. This model uses a ball bearing to make it as smooth as possible. Thus, cutting down on the noise.

Parts:

  • Ball Bearing (non-affiliate link). PS: Any ball bearing 8mm x 22mm x 7mm should work.
  • FilamentGuideClamp (3D printed part)
  • FilamentGuideWheel (3D printed part)

Print recommendations:

  • Filament type: PLA (try PETG if you have issue with parts breaking)
  • Infill: 20%+
  • Layer Height: 0.2
  • Supports: None

Assembly instructions:

  1. After printing the FilamentGuideClamp find a flat hard surface. Press the ball bearing inside the large hole by placing the ball bearing between the flat surface and the FilamentGuideClamp. This is where you are most likely to run into a part breaking so be careful. (once again, you may have better luck with PETG if PLA is breaking too much on you. Double check you are using the right ball bearing size)
  2. Once inserted, take the wheel's peg and press it into the inner circle of the ball bearing. Both parts should be attached to the ball bearing with friction. Do not glue the parts together since that may affect it from smoothly moving.
  3. Take the assembled model and clip it onto the top bar of the MK3S+ by first hooding the top of the bar and then clipping on the bottom half.
