This is a belt tensioner for the diy cnc-machine "MaXYposi". I can be used to replace the two aluminium tension blocks of the x-axis. It will fit the standard x-axis - so no extra holes are needed.

The tensioner for the y-axis is available in two different design (2- or 3-holes for fixation).

Update:

14 Feb 2018:

Uploaded x-axis tensioner v2 with "through" holes for tensioner screw and nail.

Uploaded y-axis V1 Revision1 - Tensioner with modified mounting holes.

Build Instruction

Bill of materials

  • 1 printed 3d part
  • 3 nails (3,8 x 80 mm) two for x-axis, one for y-axis 2 M4 nut, one for each axis 2 M4 x 50 screw , one for each axis 2 M4 x 40 screws (flat head) for fixing the tensioner onto the x-axis sleigh 2 or 3 screws 3,8 x 50mm, round head, for fixing the y-axis tension on the wooden base

Print out the 3D file (0,3mm slices and 20 - 25 percent infill should do it)

Bend about 25mm ot each nail in a 90 degrees angle.

Cut one nail to fit the side length of 20mm x 30mm.

Cut the other nail to fit the side length of 20mm x 20mm.

Place the in the slot (of the 3D part) adjacent to the end with two 4mm holes.

Put the screw in the upper hole (closest to the slot) and screw it through the nut.

Insert the longer nail part from inside the slot (through the lower 4mm hole).

The other nail goes to the other side of the slot (where the inner 4mm hole is).

Bend the ends of the belt to tight loops and insert them from each side into the slot.

The nail ends must fit into the loops. Now you can adjust the tension of the belt by turning the screw.

The tensioner for the y-axis is more or less a half of the x-axis and is assembled accordingly.
