This was a fun way for me to figure out where my nozzle was tracking over as I dialed in endstops and build volume.

The adapter necks down to a 4mm outer diameter which means you can jam it right were the PTFE tube goes into the extruder body. As long as you have straight path from the tube inlet to the nozzle the laser should give a precise <insert nozzle size here> dot on the print bed below. This is the case with the Voron Clockwork extruder, but and I assume many others. Obviously the nozzle must be clean so do a cold pull if you need. With a little precise alignment and a zip tie to hold the button I was able to use the laser while moving the print head reliably.

It was designed around a cheap “pet” laser pointer I had laying around. This style seems to have been replaced with laser-flashlight combos which aren't centered and wouldn't work for this. Also common on amazon are much larger laser pointers which I fear would be too heavy to have on the toolhead while moving. I've seen different names and colors for this laser pointer like “Pet Zone Cat Beam”, “Leaps & Bounds Point & Play Laser”, “Petsport Laser Chase II” “Wilko Cat Laser”, “Animmo Pet Laser” and “KONG Active Laser Pointer”.
