The ESP WROVER development kit is a great board to have around. It has a good color LCD screen, built in debugger and sells for less than $40 usd.
I made a case to house my gateway to my MQTT network. The front panel is square so you can mount it anyway you wish to position the screen horizontal or vertical. You can swap the screen around in software to get what you need.
The board comes with pins on both sides for easy development but they can be clipped off the screen side to make the mounting look better. All the pins are available on the opposite side.
I tried something new to mount my boards with a little plastic post that fits a 3mm pcb board hole. Push them in the board, position the board in the correct place and dap a little glue under the pin push it down. The board is easy to remove if necessary and can be made very secure with just a little piece of plastic pushed into the post slot to tighten it up.
The back just pops on and off to give easy access.
Hope someone finds it useful.
Cheers
