Ryden Bikes Smart Measurement and setup tool
UPDATED
Jan 2025 Updated links + New iOS app available
Oct 2023 with new V6 version.
This tool is useful for serious cyclists that have had a professional bike fit, or that have multiple bikes that they wish to ensure are set up the same.
The tool is used in conjunction with the smartphone app available from my website of on the App Store if you have an iPhone. The app needs a modern smartphone with an accelerometer in order to measure angles and calculate other dimensions. The Non-iOS App on the website is a PWA, so launch it with the browser on any device, then follow the instructions to install it if you want to use it offline.
Best printed in PETG with a dry/new roll of filament. Some minimal supports are required, and I have included a Prusa slicer file that contains the many slicer optimisations I have made.
The tool requires a metric Helix 1m ruler, one M3x10 button head bolt and nut and 2 stainless steel straws (or similar) for the hand position adaptor. If you cant find the specific ruler then the dimensions are 25.0mm x 6.0mm, and you could probably make something from wood or similar to fit. It needs to be within about 0.3mm to have the right level of friction to work perfectly.
I have uploaded 2 version of the tool here:
Version 6: Includes a new floating Shimano Hollowtech adaptor and the hand position measuring adaptor (needs two 6mm stainless steel straws) + all of the V5 features below
Version 5: Ruler is cut into two pieces (at around 42cm) use a 1/8" saw blade, or just make sure that you have removed 3mm from the total length.
Version 4: Uses a single ruler in one piece.
The additional adaptors can all be printed without supports.
