This is a high gripping force clamp configuration (relative to other FDM versions) that was re-engineered to included the following features
- Triangular Cross-Section Threaded Drive Rod. This insures the drive rod is always centered in the treaded fitting while allowing a large contact area with the print bed. This design increases strength and lower material use and build time compared to vertically build threaded rods.
- Capture mechanism designed into the reaction bucket so the jaws open and close automatically with the drive rod rotation. The original design required the lower jaw be manually opened.
- Reduced number of external retention parts by 60% via incorporating internal capture features in the jaws. The design only requires two external pegs to secure the threaded fitting into the upper jaw.
- Reduced material use and build time by re-designing the jaws to use stiffeners where loads were applied or re-directed.
