EDC Magnetic Quick Connect

This print enables you to quickly attach or detach items from your keyring.

Model requires neodymium (rare earth) magnets:
2 x (5mm x 2mm) or 
2 x (5mm x 3mm) or
2 x (7mm x 2mm) or
2 x (7mm x 3mm) 
(see below for pull strengths).

Only the 5mm x 2mm has been tested as thats what was on hand. It’s fairly strong, though larger size recommended.

This has been tested by press-fitting magnets in to each end (pliers help here) But a drop of superglue wouldn’t hurt to help retain the magnets.

note: the two halves are not identical - one half the magnet protrudes slightly (Male) and the other half is recessed slightly (Female). This helps them couple properly and prevents wandering sideways.

Model is a parametric design so iterations of different sizes and magnetic strengths can be tested.

n50 neodymium magnet pull strength:

5mm x 2mm = 550g
5mm x 3mm = 784g

7mm x 2mm = 870g
7mm x 3mm = 1360g
