I noticed that the barrel in my TM USP AEP would slide in/out relatively easily, perhaps in part due to a damaged hopup-barrel clip.

When manually pushing the barrel in/out while chronoing, I would observe change in the output power/speed. The results also varied with different buckings.

So I devised this simple design, a 3d printed piece, to hold the barrel tightly towards the nozzle, and keep it there. (to achieve a good and consistent nozzle-hop seal)

However, the mod requires that the metallic trigger-block piece be modified (check images) for screw threads. Also, it cannot be done with the stock battery connectos(at least in the way I did it).

How to do the screw mod:

  • Be sure to clamp the two pieces of the trigger block together tightly (eg. in a vise)
  • Drill a ~3mm hole at the front (check images)
  • Tap the hole to 4mm (or try a ~2mm hole and 3mm tap, but I didn't personnaly have good results with the 3mm, maybe because I used a 2.5mm drill)

How to assemble/how it works:

  • Slide the piece onto the barrel
  • Install the barrel into the hopup
  • Add the M4 screw and tighen down (not too much but firmly) the brace to the trigger block
  • Adjust the position of the barrel to the desired spot.
  • Tighen the clamp via M3 screw and square nut (should be easy to modify for a regular nut)
  • Optionally, fully tighten down the brace to the trigger block (don't overdo it)
