I tried out many different concepts from the internet but none of them was suitable for my machine.
So I designed a system from scratch and am very happy with it, feel free to modify it ( .f3d and .step files are included).
Please tell me what you changed to improve the design.
base_plate (printed in CF-PLA / I machined it out of POM)
The base_plate is mounted on the bottom Z frame of the machine using the:
- alignment_pin_left (bigger DM) (printed in TPU)
- alignment_pin_right (smaller DM) (printed in TPU)
- side_clamp. (printed in CF-PLA)
I designed two different Dust_shoes (printed in CF-PLA):
- 5.5mm_Dust_shoe for a brush like this: https://amzn.to/3CYv6lO
- 2.1mm_Dust_shoe for a 2mm PVC mat like this: https://amzn.to/3TGcFZ7
both can be mounted to the bottom side of the base_plate using magnetic band like this: https://amzn.to/3BkaWl8
Besides the magnetic band (Z direction) the Dust shoe - base_plate connection is also supported using anti sheering pins (X and Y direction).
I threaded the baseplate (M4), screwed them in and also used shrinkage tube for this 4 bolts to gurantee soft contact to the Dust_shoe
The vacuum hose is mounted to the base_plate using the hose_adapter (printed in TPU) and can be supported somewhere on the machine with:
- Hose_Clamp_Base (printed in CF-PLA)
- Hose_Clamp_Top (printed in CF-PLA)
Material list:
- 2pcs M4x16 internal hex bolts for mounting the side_clamp
- 4pcs M4x16 internal hex bolts as anti sheering bolts
- 4pcs M6x16 internal hex bolts and
- 4pcs M6 nuts if you want to use the Hose_Clamp_Base and Hose_Clamp_Top
- The brush or PVC mat (links above)
- The magnetic band 20x2
Additional Info:
If you are using your machine with the T-slot table at the upper position everything is as usual.
If you are using the lower position or no T-slot table at all, your build area reduces to ~ Y460 X300
