This is an update to my previous Root game organizer.  The original version held the base game and Riverfolk expansion, and this new version aims to hold everything.  For the sake of being thorough, you can expect to organize the following:

  • Root
  • Riverfolk
    • Second Vagabond and Mechanical Marquise optional.
  • Underworld
  • Marauders & Hirelings
  • Vagabond Pack
  • Resin Clearing Markers
  • Exiles & Partisans
  • Landmarks
  • Riverfolk Hirelings
  • Underworld Hirelings
  • Marauder Hirelings
  • Clockwork expansions are not supported, though I may get to them in time.  Will need their own box.

And now for the details!

  • All character boxes and setup components live in the main Root box.
  • Character boards, maps, and map components live in any expansion box.
  • No lid lift, unless you include manuals, second Vagabond board, and/or Mechanical Marquise board.
  • Deck box will hold either the original deck or E&P sleeved, or both decks unsleeved.
  • Each character box holds all components for that character's play, any class-specific cards (unsleeved), and any class-specific accessories.
  • Vagabond has small token organizers since they have so many types, and the Riverfolk have a magnetic card tray for their market (uses 3mmx6m magnets inserted during print).
  • Adset cards can live in character boxes if you just select regularly, or sleeved and moved into the main setup box if you draft.
  • Files include lids as sized from original modelling, as well as slightly wider versions that give a perfect snug fit on my Prusa MK3 (0.5% wider along short axis).
    • Find out which fits better for you, or try printing at a slightly different width for your machine's tolerances.
  • Boxes have push-up holes to allow you to remove contents easily.  Hirelings A/B require supports on some of these holes during print.
  • I keep extra components (manuals, second vagabond board, Mechanical Marquise, second deck) in an extra expansion box if needed.  The only thing anyone ever really misses is the manuals, but the online tool is MUCH better for referencing during play.

Best of all, you can pack this all in just two boxes, and with some creative stacking it can all fit together as one super-box:

  • Select your favorite expansion box.  Place the bottom of the expansion box into the upside-down lid of the main Root box.
    • Fill this lower section with the boards, maps, and map components.
  • Place the bottom of the main Root box on top of this, nested in.
    • Fill this upper section with factions, setup components, landmarks, and hirelings.
  • Place the lid of the expansion box on top.  You should now have one secure box of all components, easy to transport.
  • Alternatively, you can just have the main box (with all non-board components) and one expansion box (with maps/boards/etc.).

Someday I may re-design, moving setup components to the Hirelings box, which should give me enough room for class boxes with sleeved cards in the main box.  But that'll be a significant undertaking, and for the time being I like keeping everything in as few boxes as possible.  I'll wait until we get another class expansion to force my hand on that!
