This simple device lets you visually see and feel the different sizes and features you would use during 3d building, modeling, and even printing.
The first 2 gauges have thicknesses of 1-7mm in ½ mm increments. It also shows the same mm fillet on the front of each tab as well as the outer diameter in that mm fillet along the top. In each tab there is also a hole equal to the mm on the tab.
There is an 8-14mm gauge as well that just continues the same pattern as before but for larger builds.
There is a feature on the second version of the 1-7mm gauge (inspired by tomaski, a fellow teaching tech patreon) which has a slot on the back for measuring length of a screw or bolt. The long hash marks happen every cm and the shorter marks every 5mm.
I've also shown in one of the pictures that with the 1mm raised numbers it is quite easy to use a sharpie or similar marker/paint to highlight the numbers to make them stand out more.
Keep in mind printers typically undersize holes slightly. This is a good thing, so you can use a drill bit and manually clear out each hole to guarantee the hole size is correct.
