These filament samples are compact, simple and require no modification to print. All you have to do is to slice them with the correct settings for your filament.
- The sample is 5 by 5cm and has exactly the same dimensions as a color slide.
- Due to these dimensions you can easily repurpose old slide trays or slide carousels to store and display the samples. Not only do you give these boxes a second life, it's also a fun and easy way to store and display your swatches. And you avoid that you have to print your own box which often is time consuming.
- Each swatch has 4 patches on the bottom with a different thickness that allows you to verify the translucency of the material. The thicknesses are 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm or 1, 2, 3 and 4 layers of 0.2mm.
- Above the patches there is space for a label with all the additional information like brand, type, color, ordering code, etc.
- The labels I used were printed on a Dymo LabelWriter. I used the “11352 - Return Adress Int - 25 by 54mm” labels which have been cut to size (width) once they were sticked on the sample.
- On top of the swatches there are notches that help to easily identify different types. You can use them to identify the different materials (PLA, PETG, etc.) or use them in any other way you wish to organise your swatches.
