This is a 1:60 scale version of the NASA Crawler that transported the Saturn V and LUT, space shuttle and now the Artemis from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the launch pad. You can build the simpler Saturn V version or the newer space shuttle version.
This model is based on a crawler at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4563734 built by smc321. It is a 1:70 scale model which doesn't match the 1:60 scale of everything else. The parts need to be scaled up by multiplying by .1166548 (also note that the parts are 10 times too large). As it turns out the more I got into it, the less of the original model I used.
I have separated out the building of various sections to keep the build simpler and more modular. The Crawler Parts file is a comprehensive list of all required parts. The Crawler Assembly is an assembly document of the initial platform and all the sub sections in the order they should be built.
NOTE: This model is complete for now. At a later date I may build out the interior.
The model has been broken out into a number of sub-models. To complete the entire model, download the following models:
I have picked back up on this model to complete it. After completing the space shuttle I decided to pivot and make this the space shuttle version of the crawler. The only real difference is the mufflers, both will be provided. I also decided to model the underside equipment. The first addition is the steering parts for the trucks.
Updates:
7/30/2025 - Added Underside Equipment
8/10/2025 - Redesigned the walkways
The author remixed this model.
Some of the main parts have been reused. Most of it is my own parts. Check the parts list for the origin of each part.
