A close friend restored a 1931 Opel 1200. The horn button in the steering wheel was missing. All the original horn buttons we had available were so badly deteriorate, we could not create a full copy. With this reference, and some pictures of restored cars, we have created a 3D-printed alternative.

The logo used by Opel from 1909 until 1937 is embossed in the knob.

Please use UV and temperature stable filament for your 3D-print. (i.e. PETG, ABS or ASA)

Mounting instructions:

  • Screw suitable M3 threaded rods in the base. They should touch the contact-ring in the steering column when the button is pressed (~60 mm).
  • Slide springs (from ballpoint pens) over these rods.
  • Screw the centre section (with the logo) to the base with a M3 screw. If you don't use glue the logo can be rotated manually.
  • Secure the whole assembly to the steering wheel with double sided tape.
