I got sick of my saddle bag rubbing my thighs on my road bikes and decided to use a tool bottle instead. I chose to design and print them instead of buying so that I can get extra modeling experience in Fusion360. Design is based on pictures from Amazon and dimensions of my water bottle. This is a 3rd version after several tweaks. Since they're going to be used outdoors, I would strongly recommend PETG. No support is needed when printing. Note that I had included the .3mf file for those who has Prusa MK3 printers. Otherwise, use the stl files instead.
Updates:
- I had since added a chamfer to the cover for aesthetic reason.
- Added fusion 360 file in download section per user request.
- NEW! I had also designed a direct mount version! No bottle cage needed. Click Here
- Added a smooth top version to the download section. Feel free to add your own logo!
Short Walkthrough to Add Your Own Logo Onto Cap (Difficulty ~ 5/10)
(using Fusion 360, Inkscape, Orcaslicer / Bambuslicer, AMS)
- Create a vector file of your logo (svg) or download it from the web.
- Alternately, you can also create a svg of a bitmap (picture) logo using Inkscape (freeware). Tutorial on youtube (Search for “Inkscape Bitmap Trace”).
- In Fusion360, click on the top surface of the cap and click on “sketch”.
- while in sketch mode, go to “Insert” → “insert-svg” (top right on the menu bar.)
- Position and scale your svg onto the cap. Once you're happy, click “finish sketch”.
- Extrude your svg as a new body (press the “Q” key to extrude on your keyboard)
- Export the cap and the logo separately
- In Orcaslicer, import the cap, followed by the logo. You will need to reposition the logo and mirror it if necessary (you're printing on the bottom surface)
- Assign your color for the cap and logo. Select your plate type.
- Before slicing, select both cap and logo and right click to open the context menu. Select “Assemble”
- Slice your model and send it!
