What I changed
- I did not want to paint the hour hand.
- I split the hour hand from its gear so I could print each in its own color.
- I did not want to glue the gear train together.
- I added a pin hole at each glue point and inserted a sewing straight pin cut to appropriate length.
- I added a threaded extension to gear3 to attach another M3 nut to help weight the gear train down.
- I wanted to block the bright red LED at night.
- I designed a cover to fit over all of the electronics.
- I mounted the Nano to the stepper board with a small piece of PCB board with holes in it to mount to the cover.
- I made a box area to hold optional 9V or 6V battery.
- I needed a tighter fit on the stepper motor gear.
- I made a slight dimension change to the shaft opening.
Shiura uses Blender; I use Fusion 360. Fortunately, I was able to import the key parts of his design so I could make the tweaks.
The print times and print files are only the changed parts. All other parts are original and not included here.
This is an excellent design and I had a lot of fun making it and modifying it.
