UPDATE: 27 Jun 2023

Back in Aug 2022, I designed the Aux Fan Saver 1 (AFS1) to support the Aux fan in the X1C (Kickstarter version) because the VHB tapes were not secure enough. Since then, the X1C aluminium side panel and fan case design have been revised to be mounted with screws. This has made the AFS1 redundant for the newer X1C.

In Jan 2023, the P1P was introduced and I designed the Aux Fan Saver 2 (AFS2) to support the optional Aux fan for the P1P. I have also included it in the 3mf file for the ARC enclosure. Combined, there are close to 12,000+ downloads for the Aux Fan Saver familia. I would like to thank users who have provided feedback, uploaded makes and donated to this project. Your support has given me the motivation to keep this project going.

As the first year draws near, I decided to update and combine both stl into one project and include a new version of AFS2 that is beefier… I call it AFS2_FulTank.

More info below and all the best in your 3D printing journey.

Introduction

All updated versions of AFS will now have no name logo for a cleaner print.

3mf file is prepared using OrcaSlicer, you can open it with Bambu Slicer too, just will not see the build plate name.

The settings are custom for my own printer. Please use the settings that you are comfortable with according to your filament type.

Use 4-5 layers for bottom layers with 20-25% infill.  Print in PETG, ASA, Nylon or ABS. PLA or PLA+ is not recommended if you are ever going to print high-temperature material with the X1C or in an enclosed P1P.

There are 3 stl available in the 3mf file.

(Build Plate 1) Aux Fan Saver 1.0:

  • for older versions of X1C with no screw mounts on the aluminium side panels + older versions of the Aux fan casing.

(Build Plate 2) Aux Fan Saver 2.0:

  • for older versions of X1C with no screw mounts on the aluminium side panels + current versions of the Aux fan casing.
  • for P1P with or without enclosure. Can be used with other P1P enclosures by other designers.

(Build Plate 3) Aux Fan Saver 2.0 FulTank:

  • Beefier with more contact to the Aux fan casing, but uses 8-10gm more filament
  • for older versions of X1C with no screw mounts on the aluminium side panels + current versions of the Aux fan casing.
  • for P1P with or without enclosure. Can be used with other P1P enclosures by other designers.

Bambu Lab has updated its design of the Aux fan casing. The current design has mounting points that can be screwed to the aluminium side panel of the X1C. Please check the version of your Aux Fan before deciding to print.

Aux Fan Saver 1.0

Print as per orientation. No support is needed. You will need to add a 1.5mm foam/silicone base to help reduce the vibration. Requires two M3x6mm screws can be used to secure the fan to the enclosure. You can find spare screws in the kit.

Aux Fan Saver 2.0 / FulTank

Print as per orientation. supports are needed. The Aux fan casing is secured to the AFS2.0/FulTank with two M3x16 screws and a small piece of VHB tape for extra adhesion. The whole setup is then secured to the base of the enclosure with two M3x6mm screws.

  • M3x10mm hex screw - 2
  • M3x6mm hex screw - 2
  • VHB tape (>2mm thickness) - 2
  • M3xOD5mmxH4mm brass insert - 2

Why named it AFS Familia?

Anyone familiar with DanMachi anime will know that growth involves a lot of trials and tribulations. A mod design may work initially but must grow and improve to be better.  You can watch the anime on Bilibili

To date, all my designs are free to download and use. There is no Patreon or OnlyFan (hahaha). If you like my design and want to contribute to my coffee addiction & help fund the filaments I need for prototyping, a donation of $5-$10 to Ko-fi or paypal.me will be greatly appreciated.

Caveat

As with all my designs, it may and may not work for you. So print and install at your own discretion.
