Here is my take on building an open source volume control knob with editing or other shortcut profiles. This means you can control the volume, play and pause music, scrub through your timeline, cut layers, adjust brush sizes and many more all in one.

I assigned 4 functions in the knob:

  1. for rotating clockwise or counter clockwise
  2. single pressing the encoder switch (play pause music/timeline)
  3. double pressing (extra function for editing like cutting the layer
  4. hold to toggle between profiles
I completely designed the model in Fusion 360, and to save costs, I used a Digispark Attiny85 and used run commands to quickly display profile names
