In the Jakobi Lab, we use square metal containers for storage of the round plastic ‘grid boxes’. To transport these metal containers in a dry shipper, we 3D-printed this holder.
It is made from thin plastic lamella, which in our experience survive liquid nitrogen temperatures better than thick massive prints (which often crack). A 4.75 mm hole allows attaching an M5 threaded metal rod for placement in the dry shipper. An M6 screw is used to attach a closing mechanism to the top. The closing mechanism is held tight by a magnet (10 mm diameter) and metal screw.
