Articulated lamp base

I got one of those articulated lamps with a base that you can clamp on your desk. And it, sincerely, is not a brilliant design. The original base is not sturdy, is have a small area to hold the weight of the lamp and the clamp is not very secure.

After being frustrated with it, I considered screwing into my desk, but the flimsy original base would be a mistake. So, I designed this new base, with a slot for the switch, so it stays in a convenient place and not dangling from the cord. I used two-sided tape to make it stay in place.

This holder has four holes for M3 Allen screws, but I keep a hole for the original clamp if you don't want to drill on your furniture.
