Perhaps you are the kind of person who has a bathroom sink where the plunger stopper failed one day and the only way to fix it was to replace all the parts.

Perhaps you removed the plunger so you could keep using the sink and said “I'll fix that one day", but you never fix it because you've done this repair before and you know how much of a hassle it can be, and you never used the plunger stopper anyway, and in fact, all it does is catch giant hairballs that eventually stop up the drain, so you keep using the sink with a gaping open drain hole thereby risking loss of valuables such as jewelry or hearing aids, etc.

Then, perhaps one day you buy a couple of 3D printers and proceed to solve all kinds of little problems around the house, and realize that there's probably a really easy fix for this.

If any of this describes you, this model is for you!

If you open and slice the 3MF file in PrusaSlicer, you will end up with what is shown in the photos, a strainer that should fit a typical North American bathroom sink drain perfectly and not slip down below the bottom of the sink.

If you decide to use the STL file, you will need to make some changes to the perimeter and infill settings but this will allow you to customize the look of the screen and the size of the openings. Set the top and bottom horizontal shells to 0 as shown below. This will give you an open infill pattern for the screen:

Then set your desired infill pattern and % to make the screen:

I used Honeycomb at 15% for the example shown in the photos, but you can experiment to get the results you desire.

Here's a link to the model in Tinkercad so you can copy it and remix as you need:
