This is the second iteration of my .45 Chamber-Flag design. First was a lollipop that worked well but “sometimes” snagged on my pistol case so I came up with this rounded design and so far so good, zero snags. It also has the word SAFE on it so I felt it works better all around. No issues with letting the slide down onto the flag, no need to be gentle.
To finish I found two ways work almost equally well. On one I rubbed in some black putty epoxy, wiped clean and it looks good. The second, a bit more work but looked a bit better, I coated in poly, dropped in some shinny black paint, sanded flat and then recoated with poly to seal. (The first coat of poly keeps the paint from being sucked into EVERY crack and crevice in the print - trust me, it'll get everywhere without the poly first).
This may not work with every .45 but so far every one I've tried it fit like a glove.
Printed this on my MK2S using .15 resolution and 50% cubic infill. I used PLA but have also used ABS with no issues.
Like my design, how about a cup of coffee?
